My Giving Father
6D Natalie Chang

There was once a boy named Hayden. He came from an extremely rich family. His father was a successful businessman. Sadly, Hayden’s mother died in a car accident when he was little. Therefore, he lived with his father only during his childhood. Hayden was totally spoiled since he was a kid because his father wanted to compensate the loss. Hayden always took everything he had for granted and he lived an extravagant lifestyle. He spent every day loafing around. He sometimes even skipped school so that he could play with his friends.

Hayden’s father was worried and disappointed with Hayden. However, he never gave up on his son. Although he was extremely busy every day, he still cared for Hayden. He always wanted to talk to Hayden but all of his actions only made Hayden feel more annoyed. Hayden’s father would do everything to please Hayden but he never appreciated his father. Hayden was the apple of his father’s eyes. No matter what trouble Hayden got into, his father always helped him to solve the problems.

One day, Hayden skipped school again and went to a bar with his friends. He gulped down ten bottles of vodka and he was totally drunk. None of his friends cared about him at that moment because they were all drunk as well. Everyone was dancing around to the rhythm of the lousy music. Hayden was stumbling on the street until he reached a traffic light. Instead of looking at the traffic light, he ran across the road without noticing a car was accelerating towards him. Some passersby shouted at Hayden to warn him. But it was already too late. He was hit by the car and sent to the hospital.

At the hospital, the doctor explained Hayden’s situation to his father, “Hayden lost a lot of blood and half of his liver. He needed a blood transfusion immediately. Unfortunately, we didn’t have his blood type now.” Without any hesitation, Hayden father asked the doctor, “Can I be the donor? I can give him my blood and liver.” The doctor agreed but he warned Hayden’s father there would be potential consequences of the surgery. Hayden’s father insisted because he loved his son so much and he could sacrifice everything doctor.

Fortunately, the surgery was a big success. Hayden woke up and the doctor explained to him what had happened. Hayden had tears in his eyes and felt ashamed of himself. Since then, Hayden changed completely. He turned over a new leaf and studied hard. He didn’t want to let his father down. Eventually, Hayden graduated from college with flying colours and took after his father’s business. He became a brilliant businessman and his father was very proud of him.

Parents always back us up and give everything they have just to make us happy. We should not take them for granted and we should always appreciate what they do for us before it’s too late.
