My Giving Mother
6B Amanda Fung

Once there was a little girl called Chloe. Her father died in a car accident and her mother took care of her all the time. Mum worked in a factory as a worker. She always came home late at 7:00 p.m. Although she was so exhausted, she always played with Chloe. One day, when Mum was playing with Chloe, Chloe said seriously,

“Mum, I will take care of you when you are old, just like how you’ve taken care of me.” Mum was satisfied, at least her daughter knew how to be grateful.

When Chloe grew older, she met a boyfriend. She was at the age of getting married so she asked her mum for dowries. Mum sold some of her precious jewels and bought some dowries for Chloe. Chloe was over the moon. She got married with her boyfriend after a month. Chloe always asked her mum for money to afford a big house to live with her husband and her children. Mum used all her effort to buy her a big house. Chloe was as happy as a little king and she lived with her mum in the big house.

Day after day, Mum became older. She was deaf and blind. Chloe had to pay a lot of money to afford the hospital consultation fee. Finally, Chloe sent Mum to the Nursing home. She was annoyed at taking her to hospital and feeding her. Chloe had already forgotten the promise she made when she was little. Mum was very disappointed with Chloe. She was weeping when Chloe was driving the car to the Nursing home but Chloe didn’t even bother looking at her. Mum passed away in the Nursing home because of sickness. Chloe never came to visit her even when she was dead. She just came to bury her.

Time flew by again. Chloe was now at the age of sixth-nine. Her children did the same thing to her like what she did to her mother. Chloe regretted herself very much.

“Oh! Why I didn’t cherish my time with you, Mum?” Chloe said that a lot of times when she was sitting alone in the graveyard where her mother was buried.

The girl Chloe represents us in the story. Our mum is always sacrificing herself to help us, but have you ever treated her well in return? Have you ever got annoyed with your mum just like Chloe? Do not waste your time with your family until it is too late.
