My New Story of the Giving Angel
6B Seraphe Chan

When I was nine, I was admitted to a hospital due to pneumonia. Since then, my life had changed because I met an angel.

To many people, hospital is an awful place. However, patients here didn’t mind staying in the hospital because they could see a five-year-old girl, Angel. Angel was cheerful, talkative and optimistic. She often visited other patients. She brought them laughter and comforted them with love. I was often woken up by Angel’s laughter.

One morning when I woke up, the ward was deadly silent. The world was frozen. I couldn’t hear Angel’s laughter. I asked a nurse where the volunteer Angel was. She replied with a great sorrow, “Angel is not a volunteer but a patient like you. She suffers from leukemia. Instead of grumbling why the world treats her unfairly, she lives positively by spending her limited time to help others to sail through the painful days.”

“Last night, she passed away peacefully,” the nurse continued by holding back her tears, “but her love will last eternally!” Shocked by the news, I couldn’t help bursting into tears.

It’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years. Though short, Angel has a shining and meaningful life. Life affects life. She has definitely influenced others with her love and dedication.

Remember to give love and care to your neighbours!
