I have read a book called Taming Tessa which was written by Jenny Alexander. It is a fiction about teenager’s bad behaviour.

This book is about Tessa, a teenager who is very noisy, messy and bad-tempered. Her brother Ben was puzzled about her. When Ben tries to ask Tessa to turn the music down, she will shout, ‘Why should I?’ rudely. After yelling, she will slam the door impolitely. Ben is cross. He can’t tolerate Tessa’s bad temper anymore so he tries to think of some ways to solve the problem.

Then Ben goes back to school angrily. He discusses about Tessa’s bad behaviour with his friends at lunchtime. They all suggest Ben to tame Tessa with food like taming Fatcat. But it doesn’t work. Tessa still shouts at Ben rudely. At that moment, their grandmother comes to visit them. Ben tells Grandma what is happening. Grandma suggests, ‘You may find out what Tessa really likes.’

Ben finds out Tessa likes Mick by accident. Ben tells Tessa he is a friend of Mick and he also mentions that he will tell Mick the truth of Tessa’s bad behaviour. Tessa is shocked.

A few days later, Ben tells Mick that Tessa likes him, Mick likes Tessa too so Ben uses Mick as a tool to keep Tessa not to be noisy, messy or impolite at home. If she doesn’t cooperate, Ben emphasizes that he will tell Mick the truth. From that day on, Tessa becomes a nice and polite person.

I thought this book was amusing. The plot was interesting and surprising. It was full of unpredictable scenes. After reading this book, I learnt that politeness is very important for all of us. We should respect one another if we want to maintain a good relationship. Last but not the least, I learnt we need to be patient. In our life, when we are facing difficulties or problems, we should be patient before we can solve them.

My favourite character was Grandma. She was clever and smart. She told Ben to find out what Tessa really liked. If I were Ben, I would be more patient to Tessa, so we may maintain a better relationship with each other. I would like to recommend this book to my friends since they could learn how important politeness and respect are.
