The Tortoise and the Hare

Once upon a time in a magic wishing forest, there lived Hare and Tortoise. Hare was very angry because Tortoise had won in the last race so they decided to have another race. Hare was determined to win. The umpire waved his flag and off they went!

Hare ran very fast and soon left Tortoise far behind. After a while, Hare saw a river and screeched to a halt. Hare couldn't swim so he couldn't cross the river. To make things worse, the finishing line was at the other side of the river! And there were no shortcuts across the river! Hare was very worried.

Hare finally decided to throw stones into the river so he could make a stone bridge and cross the river. However, the stones sank. One minutes later, Tortoise finally caught up with Hare. "Tortoise, can you help me make a stone bridge so we can cross the river?" asked Hare. "Sorry, I can't help you," replied Tortoise. "I'm much too small to pick up stones. Anyway, I can swim across the river myself!" Tortoise added. Since Tortoise was quite tired, she sat down for a rest. Hare was very disappointed.

While Tortoise was having a rest, Hare thought of a sneaky plan. Since there was not much time left, Hare put his plan to action. First, Hare wished for a boat and a rope and they appeared in front of him. Then he attached one end of the rope to the boat and the other end to Tortoise. Then, Tortoise got up and started swimming. Hare jumped on the boat so Tortoise could pull him across the river. However, he was too heavy and fell off the boat and nearly drowned. In the end, Tortoise won the race. Everyone except Hare was happy.
