A Biography
6D Adele Leung

My father, Bosco Leung, was born in Hong Kong on 17 January 19XX.   He has an elder sister, Florence, who is a year older than he.   He is the second child in the family.  Bosco came from an average family.  His dad was a fairly paid magazine wholesaler and his mum was a part-time domestic helper who earned very little money and helped to clean the rich people’s house.
When Bosco was very little, he didn't realise the importance of learning.  He thought that school was a place built to torture children.  Therefore Bosco didn't pay attention in lessons and his school grades were extremely bad.  When Bosco was eleven years old, his mother died of an uncured and painful cancer.  Bosco and his family were sorrow for a long time, missing the most vital person of their lives.  Despite their unfortunate situation, Borco had to learn to be independent and rely on himself.  It was certainly not a piece of cake.
Bosco joined the basketball team of his school when he was in secondary school.  They had a superb coach who always led them to victory.  The experiences boosted Boris’ confident hugely.  He learnt not to give up and accept challenges courageously.   I have learnt to be brave even though when I am in tough situations.  It is one of the greatest lesson of  life.
Bosco also developed his interest in cooking.  He always has an ambition to be a marvellous chef like the celebrated cook - Gordon Ramsay, since he was a mere toddler.   To be a chef is hard but it is worth.   Bosco started from scratch by getting experiences when working in different restaurants.  He also learnt a lot of useful skills at the VTC, a school for young people.  In 2001, Bosco was invited to represent Hong Kong in the Young Chef Olympiad Cooking Competition, a competition for the best cook of the nation.  Although he didn’t win, he miraculously received a chance to participate again there as an instructor and a chief judge in 2017.
My father’s experiences taught me to live out my own dream and gather from loss.   He faced challenges and learned to overcome them.  He read culinary arts books and tried creating recipes by him delightedly.   At last, he reached his goal.   He is such an amazing living idol to me.
