My New Story of "The Giving Grandma"
6B Charmaine Chan

Once there was a little girl who lived with her grandma in a little wooden house. Her parents died when she was a baby. Grandma had to work hard every day. She used to keep her earnings in a silver box. Although Grandma was tired, she played with the little girl every day.
As time went by, Grandma became older and older. She could not go to work anymore. The little girl grew up but she liked to play with her friends in the forest and she left Grandma alone at home.
One day, the little girl asked Grandma for money to buy a new toy. Grandma refused at first as she knew that her savings were nearly used up. The little girl was in tears as she begged Grandma. Finally, the little girl got her new toy.
The next day, the little girl came to Grandma and asked for money again. She wanted to buy a new dress. Grandma declined her request this time. The little girl stole Grandma’s money from the silver box when Grandma was sleeping. When the little girl arrived at the clothes shop, she was surprised to discover that the one and only beautiful dress that belonged to Grandma was on display.
The little girl was so ashamed of her selfishness. She ran home immediately and hugged her grandma. She was sorry for her selfish acts.
In this story, the unconditional love of Grandma teaches us that love is for giving, not for getting.
