The Tortoise and the Hare
4B Danica Ng

Long time ago, there was a hare and a tortoise.
One day, the hare said, “Why don’t we have a race again? I’ll be the first of course!” he said to the tortoise rather boastfully. The tortoise said, “OK. I don’t mind if I get the first.” They were all happy and excited.
On the day of the race, the tortoise and the hare were ready. “One, two, three, go!” shouted the umpire.
The hare ran as fast as he could and left the tortoise at the starting line. In the middle of the race, the hare came to a river. The hare didn’t know what to do. He was very worried.
The tortoise came along slowly. The hare was busy throwing stones in the water but the stones sank in the water. He was very disappointed.
The tortoise said, “Let’s help each other.” The hare was very happy.
The tortoise swam and the hare held his tail. They helped each other and won the race. They celebrated in a feast. They were overjoyed.
This story teaches us not to be proud of ourselves. If someone is not as good as you, you should help them.
