A Book Report "Tea with Grumpyboots"
6D Natalie Lau

I have read a book called Tea with Grumpyboots by Jenny Alexander. It is a fiction.

This book is about Sam and the Green’s family. They are neighbours. The Green’s family have a dog called Scrap. Sam promises that she will take Scrap for a walk every day after school. Sam is always invited to the Green’s house to have tea with Mrs. Green who is kind, friendly and cheerful. She is different from her husband who is so grumpy and ill for a long time. Mrs. Green is also a good listener.
One day, after Sam takes Scrap home after the walk, Mrs. Green tells Sam that Mr. Green is going to join them for tea. Sam tries to be polite to Mr. Green but Mr. Green ignores her. Mrs. Green comes out from the kitchen and yells very loudly at her husband. Sam is scared and nearly jumps out of her skin. Later, Sam knows that Mr. Green is deaf.

Mr. Green gets up to look among the framed photos on the piano top and talks about his childhood and experiences during Second World War. Sam finds out the reasons behind Nr. Green’s grumpiness. He is deaf. Sam also knows that Mr. Green wants to have a pet in the past so he loves Scrap very much. She feels guilty about her action before.
Finally, Mr. Green gives a photo for Sam to see. She changes her impression about Mr. Green, she thinks that he is a kind man indeed. Sam takes a photo with Scrap and enjoys having tea with Mr. Green.
I thought this was an exciting and attractive book. The book was full of unpredictable scenes. I was touched by Mr. Green’s childhood. It impressed me the most. First of all, to be careful and think positively could not be missing from everyone’s life. To treasure the things that you have in this moment is very important. We should respect other people and animals around you. We should not judge others by first sight. Last but not least, I strongly believed that we should give care to people who are in need.

My favourite character was Sam. Sam was reliable. She kept the promise. She was caring too! She cared Scrap and the Green;s family. If I were Sam, I would borrow Scrap for a week and play with it.
I would like to recommend this teaching and meaningful book to people around me since they could learn to be grateful.
