The Tortoise and the Hare

One sunny day, the animals gathered in the forest to watch the race between Toby, the tortoise, and Henry, the hare.  Arrogant Henry could not swallow the fact of losing the competition.  He wanted to have a race again.

“I will win this time because I can run much faster than you,” said Arrogant Henry.

“You’re too confident!  You’ll taste bitterness again,” said Humble Toby.

The race was about to start.  Everyone was excited.  The animals all cheered Toby but booed Henry.

Henry ran fast and left Toby far behind.  Henry stopped when he reached the bank of the river.  He was worried because he could not cross the river.

After a while, Toby saw Henry at the bank of the river. He was clever.  He had a very brilliant idea to cross the river by building a small bridge with some stones.

Henry threw some stones into the river and finished building the bridge quickly.  He hopped quickly onto the slippery stones.  However, he lost his balance and fell into the river.  He was drifted away by the water.  Toby walked carefully and reached the finish line.  At last, he won the race.  Toby giggled happily but Henry yelled miserably.
