Shark Finning should be Stopped

Fishermen and hunters fin sharks because they want to get more money by selling precious fins.  Then people get the fins for making shark fin soup.  Some species of sharks are endangered now.  Shark finning is causing the extinction of sharks.  Therefore, it should be stopped.

First of all, sharks are subjected to inhuman treatment by being finned.  Finning sharks for shark fin soup is cruel because fishermen and hunters use cruel methods to cut off the fins of sharks.  They off the fins and throw the bodies back into the water.  The finned sharks usually die slowly and painfully.  They suffer from great pain.

Secondly, sharks’ fins are not good for humans’ health.  People who eat shark fin soup are unaware of the mercury-related health risks.  Mercury is dangerous to humans.  It cannot be reduced or destroyed by cooking.  If people eat the fins with mercury, they will get sick.

Lastly, sharks perform a very important job in the ocean.  They eat weak and sick animals.  It can keep the population of animals in the sea fit and healthy.  If shark finning does not stop, the prey species will grow in huge number.  If it happens, the ecosystem will not be balanced.

In conclusion, cutting off sharks’ fins for shark fin soup is cruel.  Sharks’ fins are not good for humans.  Sharks are important to the ocean.  Therefore, I strongly think that shark finning should be stopped.
