Water Pollution has to be Reduced

Water pollution has been getting serious all over the world. Pollutants are discharged into water bodies without enough treatment by human activities. It causes bad effects on animals. It also has a leading cause of humans’ death and it causes economic loss. The problem of water pollution will become deadly serious unless we take actions to reduce pollutants. Therefore, water pollution has to be reduced.

First of all, water pollution affects the survival of sea animals. Animals die when water is poisoned. Water pollution affects the wildlife including oil-coated birds and sea turtles. According to the data given by River Pollution, after a huge oil spill in America in 2010, over 1,000 animals have been reported dead, including many animals which are on the endangered species list. Only 6% of the animals affected that are still alive have been reported clean. Water pollution like oil spill in the oceans has bad impacts on animals.
Moreover, water pollution has a leading cause of humans’ death. Water pollution disrupts the natural food chain, and eventually humans are affected by this process. Humans get hepatitis by eating poisoned seafood. According to the information given by the World Health Organization, a lack of safe water and sanitation in cities leads to cholera, malaria and diarrhea. Water pollution leads to diseases in humans.

Furthermore, water pollution causes great economic loss. Polluted water affects fishing stock negatively when there is a depletion of oxygen. Consumers do not buy the fish from the polluted water. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. tourism industry loses close to $1 billion each year, mostly from losses in fishing and recreational activities because of nutrient-polluted water bodies. Water pollution has negative impacts on the economy.

All in all, water pollution has many bad effects on animals, humans and the economy. Therefore, I strongly believe that water pollution has to be reduced.
