The Secret Treasure Box
6D Annabel Man

When Ann’s parents were celebrating Ann’s 9th birthday at home, Ann’s mother suddenly told Ann a secret.  She told Ann that her grandma had hidden a treasure box in the house.  Ann felt so excited and began to search for the treasure box.

However, Ann’s mother told Ann that she had already searched all around the house for almost twelve years.  Her mother was so worried because they had to move out next month, so they needed to find the treasure box as soon as possible.  Ann and her mother started to look everywhere in the house but it was in vain.

That night, Ann had a dream in which she saw her grandma who told her to fins some friends to help her.  Ann was grateful for her grandma’s hints.  As soon as Ann woke up the next morning, she called her friends, Peter, Mary and Lucy for help.  When Ann told her friends about the whole story, they all opened their mouths wide, like some newborn chicks waiting to be fed.  All her friends were determined to help Ann.

After searching carefully for three days, they still found nothing.  Just when they were about to give up, Lucy found the treasure box hidden under a movable tile in the storeroom at last.  To their surprise, the treasure box was as light as a feather.  Once they opened the box, all they could see was a piece of paper with some words written on it.  ‘Friendship is our treasure and we have to treasure our family and friends.’  The kids were satisfied with the experience of the treasure hunt and Ann’s mother was pleased after knowing the secret.  They all realized that they had already had their greatest treasure of all which was love and support from families and friends.

Both friendship and love are important in our life, so all of us should treasure our family and friends.
