The Secret Clock
6C Carrie Tse

Once, there was a naughty, lazy child called Rick. He lived in a house. He had a secret clock that could go to different places. He had many adventures with the clock. However, he always left his work incomplete. His parents were disappointed with him.

One day, he was in his bedroom. He was bored with the homework. He thought about the secret clock. He pressed the yellow button once. He was sent to Futureland! He met the future aliens. They dressed strangely as the ancient men. They covered themselves with feathers which were very colourful and smooth. The future aliens invited Rick to take a ride on the flying roller cable car with them. It went so fast that he felt dizzy. He had a wonderful time with them. After that, they went to an ice-cream shop. They ate a lot of ice-cream pops. Rick felt very happy. However, when he was asked to stay with the future aliens forever, he was so frightened that he could hardly speak. He ran away as fast as he could. He ran back to his room again. However, he couldn’t grasp the time to do his homework.

A few minutes later, he pressed the red button on the clock instead. In an instant, he was sent to Pastland. It was dark, cold, murky and gloomy there. Suddenly, a screen was on and he saw his own pictures. He saw himself waste a lot of time on playing with his secret clock instead of doing all his work. Suddenly a sound shouted,” Rick, can you see how you waste all the time? You are such a lazy kid! You are as lazy as a pig!” Rick felt very guilty and ran away immediately.

When he got back to his room, his mum came in and shouted at him as fierce as a tigress. She ordered Rick to finish his homework at once. Rick felt sorry and started doing his homework until the next morning.

This story tells us that time is valuable. Time is gold, and it is difficult for one to use gold to get time. We should use the time correctly. We should finish our work first. Then, we can do the activities that we want to do. As someone once said,” An inch of time is worth an inch of gold. An inch of gold cannot buy an inch of time.” It means we should treasure the time as gold. We shouldn’t waste time. Think about something that we can practise the time management. After that, you could save time and fill them more efficiently.
