6th June, 2016

Dear Mrs. Wan,

I am writing to make a request for holding a picnic at a campsite for our school.

I am the chairperson of the class committee of 5B. We would like to hold a picnic at a campsite on 26th June, 216 after the school examination. Jockey Club Cheung Chau Don Bosco Youth Centre is a great place to have a picnic. It is far away from the city. We can breath fresh air and get close to the nature. The centre provides a wide variety of facilities such as a children rope course, basketball court and football pitch. There are also different kinds of activity rooms such as the hall, recreation room and art and craft room. The Youth Centre is near two beaches. It is a five-minute walk to Tung Wan Beach and Kwun Yam Beach. They are beautiful white beaches.

Four teachers and all the P.5 students will take the ordinary ferry at Central Pier at around 8:00 am. We will arrive at Cheung Chau Pier No.5 at 9:00 am. It is a ten-minute walk to the youth centre. Under the guidance of the centre’s staff, we will start our activity at around 9:30am. Since there are many barbecue sites, we will have a barbecue for lunch from 12:00 nn to 2:00 pm. Then, we will walk to Tung Wan Beach. We will depart at 4:00 pm. The whole journey takes about 8 hours.

We kindly ask you to grant us the permission for this activity so that we can announce the detail of the picnic as early as possible. Enclosed with the letter, there is a copy of the centre’s leaflet for your reference.

Thank you for your kind attention. I am looking forward to receiving your permission.

             Yours sincerely,
Gloria
