The Last Unicorn II

A woman and a girl entered the forest, wheezing. The girl spoke. “Where are we now?”
“The Forest of Happiness,” the woman replied. “Look! I think I saw her under the tree.”
“She’s the last one,” murmured the girl. “The one of the prophecy! I’ll definitely remember this.”
They both got tears in their eyes. The girl blew her nose and dragged the woman deeper into the forest. “Come on. We’ve got lots to do.”
A unicorn lying under the shade of trees twitched her ears and slowly got up, looking for the speekers, but they have already gone. She spoke to herself. “The last? I-the last unicorn? But why?”
I could have never thought of this qestion. I have been living alone for as long as I could remember.
Anyway I was trotting round the forest when Iheard voices. I turned around and saw the prophecy serpents. They’re whispering excitedly. “Yes I heard, the last unicorn’s the one…” “But who’s the chosen one? What do the stars mean?” “And the Black Mist-it’s the symbol of the Forest Ebon far away from here!”
I gasped at the words. They seemed the have some kind of connection. Suddenly I got it. I’m the last unicorn, so it’s my duty to leave this Forest and travel to Forest Ebon, all because of finding other unicorns.
“I’ll come back as soon as I can,” I promised. “It won’t be long.” And with at look at the Forest, I galloped out into the outer world.
I have never gone outside of the Forest. It was amazing out there: different scenery, fascinating weather, and I see all other animals that didn’t live in the Forest. They all interested me. I ran straight on from day to night, night to day, and I didn’t even stop to rest-I can recover energy with the magic substance in my horn. I talked to lots of animals for directions to Forest Ebon.
The skies turned darker and murkier, and after a few miles of walking, I saw a large but creepy forest. I felt so much strong cruelty that it seemed to ensnarl my senses. I backed of wearily and bumped into someone. She was a pretty girl with olive skin and dark hair. A bow and a quiver full of arrows slung across her shoulder. I snorted in surprise.
“What are you doing here?” she asked. “You shouldn’t leave the Forest of Happiness-it’s dangerous here.”
“I need to find the other unicorns that used to live with me-let me go!” I pleaded, but she barred me with a jet of purple light. I gave a startled squeal and took a step backwards.
“I’m Bianca,” said the girl. “Daughter of Hades, God of the Underworld. You can go into Forest Ebon, but at least let me go with you.”
I’m not sure if this was a threat or not, so I stayed silence.
“I’m doing you a favor,” Bianca sighed. “If you reject, don’t regret, because you may find me useful, since I can see through the dark.”
     I accepted-both her favor and that she’s a friend not a foe.
We stepped into the creepy darkness. I cowardly stepped forward and tried t peek through the gloom. After a few minutes of walking, I bumped into something soft and I gave a gasp.
“It’s a unicorn,” said Bianca. “It must be your kind, look.”
I peered and saw heer.It felt odd to see something that looked like me.
“Our savior, you arrived early,” cried a voice. “I never thought to be out of this deadly prison.”
“I’m Shadow,” continued the strange unicorn. “You must be Moonlight, our last tribe member.”
     I didn’t understand. “What tribe?”
“The Tribe of Forest Patrons,” she said. “Now you’re finally a true member of the Tribe-and also a true hero. Shall I call you Moonlight? You’re like a guide to light and peace.”
“Sure,” I replied, but the I noticed something. “Your light has gone out, Shadow.”
Bianca noticed that too. “You can revive Shadow’s light with your horn.”
I obeyed. A blinding flash of white light made me shield my eyes. When I opened them, Shadow stood gleaming in front of me. “Come on,” Shadow beckoned. “We need to find the others.”
We traveled around the Forest and gathered more unicorns. I learnt their names as soon as I found them. When the whole Tribe gathered together, I knew not only Shadow, but also Jaynaria, Solstice, Eclipse and many others. The tribe leader, Darley, gave a speech as we were all found.
“So everyone’s here,” he spoke. “And of course we must thank our saviors Bianca and newly-named Moonlight for our tribe that now stands here.
All of us turned to go, but suddenly Oracle, our tribe’s best future teller squealed in fright. We turned to see a hundred Hellhounds barring the exit.
“You don’t think you would leave that easily, don’t you?” they snarled.
We’ve got no choice but to fight them. Even Oracle told us that there weren’t too much hope left. “But remember,” she warned, “Future depends on our actions and changes, so don’t lose hope yet.”
“She’s right,”Jaynaria whispered to me. “When there is a will, there is a way.”
“Charge!”Darley yelled on top of his voice, and we raced to fight. But as soon as we aprouched, we all knew that was hopeless. Even our best fighters were torn to shreds by those horrifying hellhounds.
“We need help,” Equinox said desperately.
Bianca, who was doing some shooting on my back, suddenly sat up straight. “I know what we can do,” said Bianca.”She shot an arrow towards the moon and suddenly, we heard scuffles. All of us nearly fainted with relief. It was Artemis, Goddess of wildlife and the moon. She had a group of immortal huntresses beside her as usual. “Leave the Hellhounds to us,” she cried.
The huntresses did archery very well and soon half of the Hellhounds were either badly wounded or disengrated.”Surrender!” yelled Artemis the surviving Hellhounds.
They backed off as quickly as possible to let us pass. Then Darley spoke to us again outside and we vowed to remember Artemis and her great favor.
“You must go quickly,” said Artemis. ”The Forest of Happiness needs you.”
We all obeyed and she sent a few huntresses to escort us. Instead of leaving, Bianca stayed put on my back. “I have decided to be part of the Tribe,” she said firmly. “Like Emma in the past.”
“How did you know her?” questioned Solar, who was beside us.
Bianca winked at him. “I’m the chosen one anyway, so I must stay. And also, Moonlight and I are sharing the same legend-the legend of the last unicorn-forever.”
