Our Sports Day

On 18th January, our school sports day was held at Aberdeen Sports Ground.
It is sunny on that day. I arrived there by school bus at seven fifteen. The opening ceremony started at about seven fifty. We all stood on the tracks and sang the National anthem. We prayed together. The School Supervisor gave a speech to encourage us to have the spirit of sportsmanship and wished us luck. The events started after the student representative took the Athletes Oath on behalf of all competitors.

There were field events and track events. I took part in the field events, softball throwing and shot put. One of them was held in the morning and the other one in the afternoon. I didn’t win any competitions but I was satisfied with my performance. Some of my classmates won gold medals of the competitions. The skipping team of
our class won the gold medal.

A special event was held after lunch. It was the cheering team competition. We danced and sang together. In the last few minutes, we waved our banners and chanted the slogans. P6C won the best cheering team prize. Although we didn’t win, we had tried our best and we enjoyed the rehearsals and the performance.

P6B won the overall champion. Our headmistress, Mrs Wan and other teachers presented the prizes. Some of my schoolmates broke the records and we were all very proud of ourselves. The headmistress praised the competitors for their great performance and good sportsmanship at the closing ceremony. Although I didn’t win any prizes on that day, I enjoyed the day very much! I think the school sports day is really fun!
