Our Sports Day

6C Cherry Suen

Our school sports day was on 18th January. It was held at Aberdeen Sports Ground. The weather was windy and sunny on that day. We stood and sang the national anthem at the opening ceremony. The school supervisor led the prayer and gave a speech. She also encouraged us to try our best to show the spirit of sportsmanship. The events started after the student representative took the Athletes Oath on behalf of all competitors.

There were two kinds of sports events, field events and track events. I took part in two field events. They were long jump and shot put. One was held in the morning and one was held in the afternoon. I lost in the events and I felt disappointed with myself. However, some of my classmates won some medals. I was proud of them.

After lunch, the cheering team competition was held. We sang, danced and chanted slogans together. We also waved our banners. At last, our class won the best cheering team prize!

Class 6B won the overall champion. The headmistress presented the prize. Some of my classmates broke the record. The headmistress praised the competitors for their good performance and sportsmanship. I felt tired but excited at the end of the day because we won the best cheering team prize.
