My Chinese New Year | 3B Tristen Lau |
Chinese New Year falls on 10th February this year. It is the year of the Snake. It is usually rainy and cloudy at Chinese New Year. I wake up early on New Year’s Day. I greet my parents with ‘Happy New Year’. They give me red packets. I have turnip cake and deep-fried dumplings for breakfast. My parents and I visit relatives in the afternoon. I receive red packets from the adults. I play with my cousins. I eat a lot of turnip cake, sweet dumplings in soup, candies and New Year cake. Chinese New Year is a special festival. I watch the fireworks display, dragon dances and lion dances. I watch the fireworks display at Wanchai Waterfront. I get a lot of lucky money. I save all the lucky money. I do not spend any of it. I save it in my piggy bank. I enjoy my New Year holiday because I can visit my relatives and have the reunion dinner. |
